A simple way to share your story

Recording a story in Remento is designed to be easy for everyone. There are no downloads, no logins, and no passwords. Everything works through a secure link sent directly to the storyteller by text message and email. It opens in a browser and works on any device, whether that’s a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Each week, the storyteller receives a new prompt. Tapping the link leads straight to the question, which may include a photo. The screen displays a short introduction and a green button labeled "Share my memory." Tapping it opens the Remento Recording Studio.

No setup required

The storyteller is greeted by name and taken straight into the experience. They don’t need to sign in or install anything. This keeps the process simple and accessible, especially for those who are less comfortable with technology.

The storyteller then chooses how to record. They can select either video or audio-only. If they choose video, Remento will ask for permission to access the camera. This step only takes a moment and is handled entirely in the browser.

Video recordings are encouraged when possible. They capture not only stories but also facial expressions, gestures, and presence. These are details that families consistently say feel especially meaningful.

The recording experience

After confirming camera access and reviewing the setup, the storyteller taps “Next step” and then presses the large green button to begin. A short countdown appears, and then the recording starts.

The storyteller can speak for up to 30 minutes. If a photo was included with the prompt, they can tap to expand it and view it in full screen. Tapping the “X” in the upper-right corner closes the image and returns to the recording view.

A pause button is available if a break is needed. When finished, the storyteller taps “Stop” to end the session.

Reviewing and submitting the story

After recording, the storyteller lands on a review screen. They can watch or listen to their story, decide to retake it, or submit it as-is.

Once submitted, Remento begins processing the recording. The storyteller then sees two options. They can record another story by catching up on past prompts or choosing a new one. Or they can view their completed stories in their private digital archive.

Flexible, accessible, and built for everyone

Whether someone prefers a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone, the Remento Recording Studio works the same way. The interface is consistent, and there’s nothing to download. There’s also nothing to sign into. This makes it easy for older storytellers to participate without help.

If a storyteller isn’t interested in the weekly prompt, they can choose another at any time. Recordings can happen on a schedule or whenever the mood strikes.

Remento is designed to remove barriers. Recording a memory should feel like a conversation, not a task. Once it’s submitted, that story becomes something your family can keep, preserved in voice and later in print.
